We start off the first New Moon of 2015, with a "super moon". This cyclic event, happens when the Moon is at it's closest to the Earth, making the intense Uranian energy of this month feel almost electric & profoundly relevant to our lives.

As the first New Moon of the year and also being in Aquarius a sign of new beginnings & liberation, on an astrological level, we can think of this symbolically as when the new year really starts. Now is the time to say goodbye to the old, make plans for the year ahead & step forward with confidence along our life paths.

Aquarius is ruled by the planet Uranus, encouraging us to be super social. Rather than romantic love, we're talking friendships & community group dynamics. This is a great time to make new friends, engage in stimulating conversation & brainstorm future escapades.

Uranus being known as a tricker planet, keeps us on our toes, reminding us to always expect the unexpected.

Aquarius dare's us to be unique, innovative, take that risk & throw off any old shackles that have been holding us back. Being a very masculine energy, we are encouraged to be pro-active & rise up, whilst having faith in the magickal workings of the universe.

On the positive side of things, this new moon lets us know we are at a crossroads, it's time to make a change. This can be experienced as either finding a new way to tackle a situation, a revitalisation of something that might have been on it's last legs or moving on from this stage of our lives entirely.

Spontaneity is our best friend over the next two weeks, innovations & reformations can be made through taking a radical approach.
We need to be ready to act straight away this new moon, things can happen quickly. With social change beckoning, remember to keep eyes open for surprise new opportunities, this might present itself through a friend on new acquaintance. Clear communication is key.

Uranus like all the planets can also have some more negative qualities to watch out for such as, coming across as too impersonal, requiring too much freedom, acting like the rebel without a cause, being scatterbrained & generally unfocused, acting & talking in an irresponsible manner, being aloof or emotionally detached.

Although it's important to be aware of the more shadow aspects of ego that can present themselves, this new moon is all about focusing on positive change & moving forward from darker days.

Now is the time to think & act for the greater good, we are all encouraged under Aquarius to support nature & our fellow beings, whether this is through personal acts of kindness in our every day lives or by giving/helping a charity or non-for profit etc. It doesn't matter how great or small, it's connecting & weaving a web of fellowship that counts.

Healing is an important attribute of Aquarius, through clarity of mind we our able to restore equilibrium to ourselves & those around us. We are active in creating an environment of internal & external equality & democracy.

Follows is a list of astrological transits during the New Moon period :

Mercury Rero - Jan 21st - Feb 11th -
feelings of nostalgia can be triggered. During this retrospective time, we have a need to look back at the past, to search out something that was missed previously. Try seeing things from a different point of view, now we can learn from past mistakes

Stellium of Sun, Moon, Mercury & Venus in Aquarius -
Stellium's create a pooling of very potent energy. It suggests a time when we experience loving, well balanced, open, unusual or experimental friendships. It suggests a time when radical change  comes from both the head & the heart, this benefits not just ourselves but the community as a whole

T Square - Uranus Square Pluto & Nodes -
A powerful astrological alignment, this T-square configuration suggests sudden dramatic breakthroughs & change in events. This is a time of important meetings & also of departures, both can be emotionally draining. It high-lights something that we should have done a long time ago, such as letting go of a painful past habit, a co-dependent relationship or an addiction. This can be challenging transit but well worth it. Remember all life experiences, even the difficult ones are growth for the soul

Uranus Trine Jupiter -
Breakthroughs & change will be big & beneficial. We are encouraged to enjoy all the benefits of our  independence. If we play your cards right, might be in for a lucky break

Moon Sextile Saturn -
This helps to add an element of calm & suggests that at this time much internal growth & emotional happiness can be achieved through socializing with older wiser companions

As a fixed Air sign Aquarius, has a strong emphasis on the power of thought, quiet literally this new moon is about mind over matter.

Through the polarity of opposite signs, the mind of Aquarius & the Heart of Leo come together, helping us have a stronger connection & clearer understanding of our community on a more trans-personal level. This is where "i" becomes "us" & we connect with our tribe.

Ruled by the planet Uranus, Aquarius is often mistakenly thought of as the water barer, in fact the water often depicted through the symbol of two waves for Aquarius, is actually two channels of cosmic vibrations, reminding us of the old esoteric axiom "As above, so below".

Aquarius is also often depicted as a star & in Tarot rules The Star card, here this month we are gifted Star consciousness, an illumination of our soul.
