Crystals:

Rose Quartz, Amethyst, Larimar, Sodalite

Herbs & Oils:

New moon's are always a fabulous time to have a fresh start, to plant new seeds of intention & to re-commit yourself to your life path.

With this months Virgo New Moon, the theme is all about inner healing, positive transformation & empowerment.

Virgo, symbolised by a Virgin Goddess, doesn't refer to physical virginity, it's actually in reference to being owned by no man, or woman. Virgo symbolises independence on a physical, emotional & mental level.

Being ruled by Mercury, Virgo encourages you to exercise your own wisdom freely & to communicate clearly with a rational pragmatic stance.

Now is a time to let bygones be bygones, stop criticising, listen patiently, embrace forgiveness, nurturing & unconditional love, these are all very central to this New Moon. Being an Interpersonal sign, Virgo encourages you to embrace & help others through your own learning process.

The perfection of Virgo is not with outer needs but internal inner perfection, it is a distillation of the soul's purpose. We attain this by being humble, acknowledging our imperfections & loving ourselves & others above & beyond the superficial, we love unconditionally.

As well as forgiving others, it's important to forgive ourselves. Self-critical thoughts need to be replaced with kindness, acceptance & love. Through self-acceptance; knowing who we are & what we are not, allows us to become our own inspirational guiding light.

This is a time to strive towards living & becoming the best version of ourselves & this starts with self-love. Transformation & empowerment comes through being conscious, emotionally & mentally transparnt with ourselves, acknowledging how far we have come, identifying the next steps in self-development & actively making positive improvements. This new moon is a time of deep inner strength & cosmic protection.

Over the last few years a huge evolutionary cycle has been taking place on both an internal & external level. On a personal level, this may have been experienced as major life changes & challenges. Now is the time to rise above & turn them into a positive, the way forward is through rebirth & transformation.

This months New Moon, encourages us to delve deep with our own process of internal spiritual Alchemy. To change the outside world, first we must change within ourselves. This shift in the paradigm of self, leads to transformation at a soul level, or as the Alchemist used to call it, "Transmutation of the soul".

Virgo, also rules healing, daily routines & the small things in life. Now is a great time to start that new health regime, eat healthy, go on a detox, meditate & exercise. Working on a holistic level, taking in all aspects of our physical, emotional & spiritual selves. The best approach with this month's energy is to start small, but keep it regular.

Make a list of all the things you need & want to do & start ticking it off, get all the small things out the way first.

Take time to appreciate the simple things in life.
Now would be a good time to start a gratitude journal. Every night before bed, write down 5 things that you are grateful for that happen that day. Even if you have a really challenging day, still write them down.

Being an Earth sign, Virgo encourages us to get out into nature, surround yourself with beautiful greenery, plants, flowers, natural bodies of water & animal friends. Eat earthy wholesome home cooked foods. This will help to ground you & to re-harmonize you, which is very important during this astrological cycle. Anything that brings your presence into the body & the present moment is great, whether thats yoga, a long walk in nature or any other physical yet mindful activity.

Ultimately all this wonderful self-improvement work we are doing on ourselves, will be raising our energetic vibration, which in turn will help raise the vibration & positive energy of  those around us, think of it as a domino effect.

As ruler of Harvest time, things can come to fruition during this cycle.  Think about what seeds you have been sowing recently over the last season.

If you are in education or are considering going back into education or upskilling in any way, now is the perfect time to  dive deep into studying.

Over the next few days it is good to take some time out to reflect & meditate on this Virgoian new start you are putting into action. Mercury was the God of Magick & Mind, so remember the power is yours & literally it is mind over matter.

In the next few weeks & months, it is important that you share with your loved ones the pearls of wisdom that you have learnt over this time, as this is all part of this new moons experience.

Wishing you a magickal moon night.

Much love Natta )O(

DIVINATION HOW TO'S - ONIMANCY

WHAT IS ONIMANCY?

Picture

The ancient mantric art of Onimancy, uses Olive Oil as a means of divination.

First practiced in Roman, it was very popular until the Middle Ages, when it became concidered a practice of Witchcraft.

Onimancy was the method Nostradamus (1503-1566), used for his catalogue of over 1000 predictions, many of which have come true. For this he used a bowl of water set upon a large brass tripod.

OLIVE OIL

  • Magickal Properties: Peace, Happiness, Fertility, Consecration, Goodness & Purity

The Olive has had a long history of being a sacred herb in many cultures through out the world. Widely used in Egypt, Rome & Greece, Olive Oil was the preferred choice for the sacred temple lamps.

The Olive tree is associated with many Solar Deities, as well as Athena & Poseidon.
As a male aphrodisiac, Athenian brides wore crowns of olive leaves to encourage fertility. Whilst at the Olympics, the winner had their crown anointed with Olive Oil & wore a Olive victory wreath on their head.

As in ancient times Olive Oil can still be used to today to consecrate incense burners before their first use. It may also be used in rituals to honour either human or deity. When used in magickal workings or rituals, you can dress candles with the Oil, anoint yourself or bless the ritual water with a drop.

Placing springs of Olive leaves around the house & over the front door, promotes a peaceful home environment.

ONIMANCY INSTRUCTIONS

Their are numerous forms of Onimancy, ranging from very simple, to incredibly complex.
Listed below are three very simple versions that anybody can get interesting results from.

Before any type of divination, it is always good to take a few deep breathes to clear your energy. This also helps you to be grounded & to bring yourself into the present moment.

1. PALM OF YOUR HAND

Although I'm rather more likely to do this type of divination when i'm in the kitchen, it can be practiced anywhere quiet at any time of day.

  • Think of a question
  • In the palm of your left hand, mix 1/2 teaspoon of Olive Oil with 1/2 teaspoon of Cocoa Butter. Organic is always best. (Originally Tallows where mixed with the Olive Oil, but Cocoa Butter is a good vegetarian substitute that works just as well today)
  • Drop a coin on to the mixture in your left palm, the direction which it moves once dropped indicates the answer to your question
  • North; yes, South is no, East or West; indicates indecision or you need to ask at another time

2. NAIL TRANCE

Best to be practiced in a darkened room at night. Not only is this an insightful & relaxing form of divination, it's also great for your skin too.

  • In a quiet room, light a candle & switch the main light off
  • Think of a question
  • Massage a small amount of Olive Oil into your hands, particularly your nails
  • Leave enough Olive Oil on your thumb nails for their to be a shiny surface
  • Allow the light of the candle to reflect on the surface of both of your thumb nails
  • Take note of symbols real or imaginary that appear in the reflection of the candle light
  • Once you have seen the symbols appear on your thumb nails, look into the candle for another 10 mins & meditate on what those symbols mean to you in relation to your question

3. THE NOSTRADAMUS METHOD

This method can be practiced anywhere quiet, at any time of day.

  • Think of a question
  • Fill a medium to large bowl, half-full with water (I like to place a couple of crystals at the bottom of the bowl; Quartz crystals to help energise the water & Labradorite as it's has strong psychic intuitive vibrations)
  • Pour a tablespoon of Olive Oil in the water
  • Look at the patterns the the Oil forms, take note of symbols real or imaginary that appear
  • Once you have seen the symbols appear in the water, take another 10 mins & meditate on what those symbols mean to you in relation to your question

Hope you have a relaxing & insightful time practicing these ancient art.

VENUS TRANSITS LEO: 12TH AUG - SEPT 5TH

PASSION, PLEASURE & PLAY

Picture

VENUS IN LEO CRYSTAL HEALING

During this transit good healing crystals to meditate & massage your body with are:

  • Rose Quartz & Aventurine  - both ruled by Venus & related to your Heart Chakra

  • Tiger's eye & Citrine -  both ruled by the Sun who governs Leo & related to your Solar Plexus Chakra

For more information on these crystals check the Natta Jain "Crystals" page.

When Venus & Leo celestially intertwine, it's a time for you to indulge your senses, revel in romance, throw yourself into your creativity & most importantly embrace your playful inner child.

Leo with it's strong active masculine energy, encourages you to be bold. Don't wait around for things to happen, you need to be the instigator, like the King of the Jungle, be a hunter….rrraaahhhrrrr!

In comparison, Venus want you to pamper yourself & enjoy the good things in life, including basking in the delicious rays of romance.

Leo loves to be playful, imagine a big cat high on catnip with a huge cardboard box. During this time it's important to prioritise seeing friends, going of on fun adventures, digging into creative projects ( Leo is strongly linked to Artists & Performers ) & dusting off your best party shoes to dance the night away. Everything at this time can seem larger than life, like seeing the world through techni-coloured glasses, giving things an amazing yet slightly surreal & trippy hue.

Pride, strutting your stuff, showing off your peacock feathers, lavishing gifts on yourself or others, being indulgent, shows of ostentation, hugely over the top theatrical performances & being the centre off attention all feature heavily at this time.

Talking about pride, particularly self-pride, be mindful this transit of keeping this in balance. To little & we are giving our power away, too much & we become arrogant, cutting our nose off to spite face. By all means blow your own trumpet if you want, but do it humbly.

For work & career it's a great time for positive progress, so take the bull by the horns. Venus's abundance combined with Leo success work perfectly as a dynamic duo. The beneficial energy of theses two planets supports, completion of projects, the birth of new ventures & for getting the recognition or rewards you deserve. It's somewhat like harvest time, you can now start to reap what you have previously sown….. hopefully you sowed good seeds last season! It's important to celebrate your achievements, these are all mile stones to be acknowledged, so we can appreciate how far we have come & how much we have achieved already. Financially though, be careful of the temptation to splurge to much.

Venus teamed with Leo makes the romance & attraction aspect of this transit have a strong "kapow" factor & is great for adding extra passion & loving vibrations to established relationships.

In regard to new relationships, just be mindful Venus, is not about longevity, commitment or faithfulness & Leo struggles to mature from the fun, ego building, lovestruck stage of a relationship. It's not to say that these things aren't possible during this transit, it's more to highlight the fact it's important to enjoy the romantic  "journey" of this
Venus in Leo transit, rather than getting to hung up on the destination. This is an energy best relished moment by moment. Simply open up your heart, have fun, be cheeky, & allow love to flow through you.

With Venus in Leo saying "yes" all the way, it's actually a good thing that Saturn's transit of Scorpio, which sits at odds with the Venus in Leo transit, is directly effecting it. This is where a much needed balance comes in. Saturn in Scorpio dilutes the intense energy down & gives some much needed grounding & perspective, making you think with more caution before leaping into anything.

Remember the old adage, "sharing's caring", so it's a good time to remind your loved ones how much you appreciate them, maybe even surprise someone with a special little gift or a fun adventure (i'm rather fond of organising surprise treasure hunts), to let them know you care. Making them smile is worth a million dollars……. making strangers smile is hugely heartwarming too :)

Thankyou for taking the time to read my astro insights, i hope you enjoyed them.

Wishing you a wonderful comic Venus/Leo adventure.

Much love Natta )O(

DIVINATION HOW TO'S - STICHOMANCY

8/11/2014

WHAT IS STICHOMANCY?

Picture
Old bookshops & the library are very much my second home, yes i confess i am a total bookworm! As i meander along the rows of books, i will quiet often turn my hand to some Stichomancy.

Stichomancy, which translated literally means "divination by lines" is an Ancient Greek & Roman form of divination, through reading random selections of passages or verses in books.

Other variations of this are "Rhapsodomancy" using the same method but with poetry & "Bibliomancy" was when using the Bible & other scares texts such as the Koran.

STICHOMANCY INSTRUCTIONS

Aswell as divination, Stichomancy was also practiced as a magickal healing method.
  • First think of a question
  • Then pick up a book that you feel drawn to & open it at a random page
  • Once your on the page, close your eyes & run your finger down the page, where your finger stops read the passage or sentence, this holds the wisdom that you need to know at that precise moment in time
  • Thank the book by giving the front & back of the cover three little taps with your left hand

This can either be done once for a simple direct question OR for a more complex question you could repeat this four times for each of the elements, these being; Fire - spiritual passion, Water - emotions, Air - mental clarity & Earth - the physical & action.

If repeating this Four times follow this method:

  • First passage -  is for what you can learn from your situation on a spiritual level
  • Second passage - is how this effects your emotions & the role that they play in the outcome
  • Third passage -  is what you can focus on to gain mental clarity
  • Fourth passage -  is what action you need to take & what outcome is most likely

Though not commonly practiced today, contemporary psychic's often mention amazing results.
Both Stichomancy & Rhapsodomancy are very easy & versatile forms of divination, many people do this with the I-Ching rather than casting the coins. In times gone by, Shakespeare, Nostrodamus, Homer, Virgil  & Rumi used to be very popular book choices.

So whether your at home, in an old book shop or library, give it a little go & see what interesting things come up for you :)

Happy stichin' much love Natta )O(
