![]() Astronomically what is Solstice? Astronomically Solstices are when the Sun is at its greatest distance from either the North or the South of the equator. At these points the Sun seems as though it’s standing still, the term Solstice from Latin means “Sun standing”. The Winter solstice in the Southern hemisphere is marked annually by the Sun moving from the Zodiac sign Gemini into the Zodiac sign of Cancer, this marks the start of Winter. Winter Solstice falls in the Southern Hemisphere this year on Sunday 21st June 7:43am. . Mythological symbolism: Winter solstice has been celebrated all over the world in many cultures since ancient times. Winter Solstice, like Summer Solstice & also the Spring & Autumn Equinox’s are about us reconnecting to the nature & the sacred magick of life. As an ancient pagan seasonal ritual, Winter Solstice also know as Yule in Norse & Anglo-Saxon traditions, is a time when people celebrate the Great Goddess awakening from her sleep & being pregnant with the Sun God, the Solar deity. The quiet dark of Winter is like the baby in the womb, or the seed in the dark rich life giving soil. It symbolises the quiet, internal reflective & restorative time with ourselves, where the real magick happens. Where we explore our more tricker shadow elements of self, it’s where we heal & let go of the past. The day after Winter Solstice is called “Mothers Night” when the Goddess is labouring to give birth to the Sun God. Each of the yearly seasonal astronomical events are linked to phases in the archetypal life/death/rebirth cycle. So after the labouring of the Goddess on Mother’s Night, this is then the time when we our ready to start a fresh chapter of our lives, it’s like a new dawn. Winter Solstice as a whole is a time to reconnect, remember, trace ancestral footsteps & find our way back to nature. In ancient times, it was very common for people to sit up all night at Winter Solstice with a candle to greet the Sun rise at Dawn, with the belief that this would bring blessings & abundance to their household for the year ahead. This time of year always reminds me, that in the darkness is where we find the diamonds. The bigger contemplation at Winter Solstice: Astrology is the meeting point of humanity, ecology & the universe as a whole.... It’s connecting us to patterns & the vibrational energy of the sheer fabric of the cosmos. Astrology is an ancient art of mapping the movements of the sky. It’s synthesised connections are expressed through, myths & archetypes, it’s a form holistic storytelling born deep in the past, yet is more relevant today than ever before. Their is an old esoteric Axiom “As above, so below” Meaning that the movements in the heavens are mirrored here on Earth, both with in nature & within ourselves. This is the philosophical principle of the macrocosmic & the microcosm. So when we talk of the Winter Solstice, it’s linked in a physical sense to the movements of the planets, the four seasons, life cycles & nature. It’s the magnificence of the Great Barrier Reef & the Rainforests, it’s also the humble tuft of grass, that i always love to see poking defiantly through the urban sprawl, reminding me that nature still finds a way & so will i if I’m having tough day. Or the Coo of a wood pigeon as i walk along the creek, that makes me smile & reminds me of my grandma. It is our connection to the Mother Nature in all her magnificence, for she is the most precious gem to be protected, as essentially when viewing the world from as Astrological perspective nature is but an extension of ourselves. Ways in which to embrace Winter Solstice: At the same time though the Winter Solstice is connected to folklore, mythology & the more shamanic spiritual realms in life. It calls upon us each as individuals to rediscover the spiritual act of “ritual”. Thats how are ancestors connected to the Earth & in turn themselves, through ritual. It’s about how we can embrace ritual in our everyday, so that we bring the “sacred” into our daily routines, with rituals that nourish ourselves, our habitat & our neighbour. That’s true & powerful magick, in the most simplest & perfect way. This can be as simple as smiling at the Sun first thing every morning, what a wonderful & life enhancing way to start the day, that we can all do. The ebb & the flow of the oceans physical tides, our life experiences & emotions... all of these are mirrored in Summer Solstice as an exhale, the Winter Solstice an inhale, vice versa, reminding us that life is really one long meditation. As a baby is soothed my their mothers heartbeat, we our soothed when in-tune with nature’s rhythms. Winter Solstice traditionally is a time of peace & forgiveness, where people come together to share warmth, food, stories & love. It’s a time to think of our neighbour, those less well off, the homeless, the elderly & the disadvantaged. How can we help out our community & how can we help nature, Mother Earth? It’s a good time to acknowledge the farmers, who help to put food on our plates, especially through the cold winter months. It’s a time to acknowledge those people who work helping animals & conservation. And those who help protect the Environment from pollution. Some ways that you can embrace this Winter Solstice energy are....
Wishing everybody a magnificent and blessed Yule. Much love & magick Natta x

New Moon in Cancer Tea
New Moon In Cancer Crystals
| In the Southern Hemisphere annually as the Sun enters the sign of Cancer we have the Winter Solstice, a powerful Solar festival which heralds the New Year in Astrology. A few days later we are greeted by the first New Moon of the year, this starts the next 12 month cycle. The New Moon in Cancer is a stand out New Moon, for this is when the Moon returns to the sign she naturally rules, here she is at her most potent. As Cancer highlights our emotions and primal instincts, some people might feel particularly sensitive around this time, so it’s important to be soft with ourselves and others. Allowing feelings to flow can be very cathartic. As Cancer is a water sign, these feelings are best channelled through embracing any type of creativity. This is also the perfect time to have a candle lite ritual bath or shower. Falling so closely together this is a time when both Solar and Lunar energies are amplified and merged. We can see the Solar energy as our outward expression, our sociability, what we are striving for and our creative passions. Our Lunar energy heightens our inward focus and our self-nurturing, it is the act of tapping deeper into our natural intuitive gifts and it is peace we find in trusting ourselves. The two energies of the Sun festival & the first New Moon combined mark a period when our true self and our greater purpose are in synergy, together they set forth the magick for the year ahead. The Cancer New Moon this year is classed as a Super New Moon, which is when the Moon’s orbit is at it’s closest point to Earth. This further enhances the energy of this New Moon and links it back to the last Super Moon on May 26th. It is worth reflection on what has come to pass during this time as it plays apart in the New Moon’s unfolding gifts. The Moon in Cancer is very home based and nurturing. However the concept of home though is always where the heart is, and this can mean something very different from one person to the next. So wherever we find our personal heart, this is where the New Moon is best experienced. It is a call to allow ourselves to revel and feel the warmth of what we instinctively love. Mercury the planet of communication and magick is playing an important role as it connects closely to this month’s New Moon. This suggests it is a great time for us to open up, to talk, to share and exchange our ideas (Mercury), our feelings (the Moon) and our passions (the Sun). The magickal power of Mercury is to manifest these aspects into creation. As the old esoteric axiom goes “As above, so below”, and with this we joyously plot our path to the shining stars. Much Lunar love Natta )O( |

Winter Solstice ritual checklist
| The Winter Solstice also known as "Yule" is the annual astronomical event that marks the shortest day of the year and the longest night. Since ancient times people across the world have celebrated Winter Solstice when the Sun starts to climb higher in the sky. This was seen as a potent and deeply sacred symbol of the cycles of life, death and rebirth. Winter Solstice served as a herald of the changing seasons, a signal for the preparation of the next agricultural phase and as an important time to worship the Gods, the Goddesses and nature. Symbolically it is when the Goddess the divine feminine principle, awakens from her long sleep over winter and gives birth to the Solar God the divine masculine principle, and with his birth starts the new annual cycle towards Spring. For us today, personally connecting and celebrating Winter Solstice is a wonderful way to reconnect with our true self at a deeper level. We can see this time as a beautiful gift to ourselves. It is a sacred moment to nourish our souls, give thanks to the bounty of the universe and to creatively plant seeds for our next harvest. Being the darkest and longest night of the year, the silence and peace that Winter holds is the perfect time for reflection and mediation. This is a moment of searching deep within, of delving into the shadow aspects of our Dark Goddess nature. In this aspect the Goddess is linked to contemplation, death, release. Yet still in the darkness she is nourishing like the earths soil. She encourages us to wave goodbye to the old. What is no longer authentic to ourselves and our path is released. As the Goddess once again transforms into her aspect of Great Earth Mother, the light is welcomed in and we seamlessly shift our focus to consciously communing with the universe, giving thanks for all that we have been blessed with and achieved in the last cycle. Much like in the Mother's womb it is in this darkness, that we can now incubate and birth our wishes for the year ahead. This period is classed as the seed time of year until gradually as the days become long and lighter we are greeted by the full blossoming at the Summer Solstice also known as Litha. Winter Solstice Ritual Ideally the prime time for meditation and ritual is to wake an hour before Sunrise and meditate until we are greeted by the light of dawn. However, meditation can take place anytime over June 21st going into June 22nd, as this whole time is classed as a potent period for ritual. (Although this ritual is not based around divination, if you happen to practice any form of divination you can include that in the ritual as well to gain some insight) Prepare your Winter Solstice tea mindfully with love. Focus on your breath throughout the process of making and pouring the tea. Find a quiet space either outside or inside is fine, ideally sitting on the floor. (If waking up to greet the dawn ideally pick somewhere you can watch the sunrise. In Melbourne sunrise is currently at 7:30am) Light your incense and ritually smudge the space clean. Allow the incense to keep burning in a safe spot nearby. Place your candle, quartz crystal and fresh rosemary next to one another. In front of you have your paper and pen. Sit down clear your mind, take a few deep breathes and light the candle. Take one sprig of the rosemary and rub it between your hands, raise your hands to your face & breathe in the fresh smell of rosemary. Take a sip of your tea. Focus your gaze on the flame, thinking of all that you want to release, write this on the first sheet of paper. When completed fold in three times and place to the "right side" of you. Take a few moments to focus of the release of these old aspects. Rub the rosemary again between your hands, and smell them again. Take another sip of your tea. Go back to focusing your gaze of the flame. Next right down on the second piece of paper what you are thankful for this year, again fold with three times, but this time place it in "front of you". Take a few moments to focus on thanking the universe for these gifts. Rub the rosemary again between your hands, and smell them again. Take another sip of your tea. Again go back to focusing your gaze of the flame. Next right down on the third piece of paper what your wishes and goals are for this year, Write them as though you have already achieved them. Again fold the paper three times, but this time place it in on your "left side". Take a few moments to focus on manifesting your dreams. Rub the rosemary again between your hands, and smell them again. Take another sip of your tea. For the rest of the time until sunrise, focus on your breath, the beauty of life and visualise your wishes as being real already. At sunrise place both your palms on the ground, look up and smile at the Sun, bask in the nourishing life giving rays. Give thanks and blessings to the universe. Whenever you instinctively feel as though you have completed the ritual, wet your fingers and snuff out the candle, don’t blow it out. Take your quartz crystal and rosemary and bury them both together in the earth. You are planting your seed and releasing the crystal and the rosemary back home as their job is now done. Pour the remainder of the tea over the burial spot as an offering to the universe. With the 3 pieces of paper, place them in a safe spot, do not look at them again! In 12 days burn all three pieces of paper using the same candle. Look to the sky and smile, mouth the word "thank you" and feel confident that the universe has heard your wishes. For more information on these crystals check the Natta Jain "Crystals" page. | Moon in Cancer Cancer, is a strong place for the New Moon to be, for it is the Moon that rules the Crab. On the positive side this months new moon presents an opportunity for us to revel in our innate loving nature, exhibit our natural caring instincts & explore the depths of our imagination. With no other sign feeling as deeply on a personal level, highly intuitive & emotionally sensitive, watery Cancer works always from the heart. Security & the home are highlighted by the Crab, depicted perfectly by it's hard protective shell. This new moon is a time to nestle & cosy up at home, in our own personal sanctuaries, creating a beautiful sacred space for inner reflection & meditation will do us wonders this month. We gain a sense of security & stabilisation through our nourishing internal strength this month, physically, emotionally, mentally & spiritually. It's easy to look for validation outside, being caught up in this we give away our power, Cancer reminds us, that to love another first we must love ourselves. Now is the time to plant a new seed of self love. Through doing this, we find the strength we we're looking for within ourselves, we blossom, and our relationships blossom. Cancer encourages up to deep sea dive for diamonds in our imagination, in our dreams and day dreams. On the slightly more challenging side, if not positively worked with, Cancer can bring up insecurity issues, defensiveness, power plays, over possessiveness, smothering, depression & extreme emotions. This can be experiences both within ourselves & in others. Moon Conjunct Mercury & Mars During this transit, intense fluctuations in emotions can override logical thoughts. Cross wires in communication, can lead to us retreating into our protective crab shell & readying our claws on the pre-defence. Irritations can flair up, egos can puff up, senses of perception can be distorted & a peaceful equilibrium can be challenging to maintain. Rather than retreating into our shell or impulsively trying to exercise our will, the universe is presenting us with a test. Have we learnt from previous cycles or are we stuck on wash & repeat? To pass the test, it is best to sit calmly & even creatively with this ever changing tide of emotions. This strong transit used wisely can be put to much beneficial effect. The current astrological climate asks us to do nothing but sit, ponder & invest time in emotionally stoking our creative passions. Talking with friends at this time can be very beneficial, as is writing down your thoughts, drawing or singing them out. Sit with them for the next few days before taking any action. Pluto Opposition Encounters with others can be intense, deep & profound. At this time, subconcious drives & raw emotions can be revealed. This is not a time of conclusion or major transformations but a time to cultivate inner peace & stillness. Pluto in Capricorn opposite the Moon in Cancer brings into play the polarity between the Goats masculine conditional fathers love & the Crabs feminine unconditional mothers love. As much as their can be a thin line between love & hate, their at times can also be a thin & confusing divide between different types of love, including eros (romantic), agape ( platonic - spiritual), phileo (joy) & storage (family). The opposition highlights our most intimate relationships, their are lessons to be experienced & learned, the process should be allowed to unfold in it's own natural rhythm. Mars & Pluto suggest than in due course, this period of life will be looked back on as a major time of inner alchemy. Although this might not be so obvious now, all will be revealed within the passage of time. Venus Conjunct Jupiter both Trine Uranus This transits greatly softens & brings much positive energy to this months new moon. Theirs a deep nurturing & caring vibration from Cancer & a sense of buoyancy & optimism from Jupiter. As lucky transits go, this deserves a golden prize star. Venus & Jupiter the too great beneficent planets team up with Uranus the planet of great surprises, wishes & dreams. So look up to the skys & make a wish, Jupiter loves extravagance, so remember to wish BIG! Much love & lunar magick Natta )O( |

For more information on these crystals check the Natta Jain "Crystals" page. | GEMINI NEW MOON 11th This months New Moon in Gemini is all about communication, ideas, polarity, change, illumination & action. Being one of the "dualistic" signs, Gemini encourages us to listen & understand all sides of the story before making our big move. Ruled by Mercury, this moon has a strong proactive masculine energy & is linked to the highest form of magick & manifestation - as it's in the 11th house of wishes & dreams - use the magick well, use it wisely, this is a time when you can really get what you wish for. Under a New Moon in the perfect time to plant new seeds. Speak out loud your words of intent, then physically do them! Take that first big step, the universe is supporting you - just make sure you really want it. The clearer you are with your intention, the better! Gemini is associated with the ancient God of Healing Hermes, and also being in the 11th house, this new moon has connections to the healing Goddess Iris, this is a great month for healing on a deep spiritual level. The 11th house also rules friendships, group activities & any social collective we're involved with. Talking & sharing of ideas should be high on the agenda, great insights can come from sharing in group discussion. Uranus who rules the 11th house, is all about surprises, the unusual, so be prepared for what you least expect. SUN CONJUNCT MARS 11th Alot of intense energy is churned up with this transit, it further ramps up the intensity of Gemini. Used positively, Mars & the Sun empower us to get off the sofa & take the action thats required, filled with a head strong courageousness, much positive progress can be made towards our goals. The shadow side to be aware of, irritation, frustration & aggression. If not positively standing our group this can come out as passive aggression. This we should see being played out mainly in close friendship groups. Be wary of aggressions rising with friends. Stand your ground. In fact close friends can be going through a very challenging time, it's important to empathise & support but make sure they don't use you as an emotional punching bag. T-SQUARE SUN & MARS 11th, LILITH VIRGO 2nd, CHIRON PISCES 8th Deep shifts & healing transformations are taking place with this transit. Healing here is with the dark moon Lilith, tap into the wild feminine, get earthy & primal. The wisdom comes from deep with in, access this through the body, rather than the mind. MERCURY GEMINI 10th, OPPOSITE ANERETIC SATURN SCORPIO 4th This signals a time of changing our long term self-limiting beliefs & views. Alot of this can be to do with our home life, the feeling of security & authority figures & sense of family bonds. |

Sagittarius herbs/fruit to have as herbal tea or add into recipes:
Sagittarius oils to massage your body or use in an old burner as incense:
For more information on these crystals check the Natta Jain "Crystals" page. | "Throw your dreams into space like a kite, and you do not know what it will bring back, a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new country." Anais Nin Inner wisdom Sagittarius has much to do with dreams; in the context of hopes, wishes & desires. With the fiery Archer's arrows constantly poised to take aim at far flung goals, life can sometimes feel like a constant tour de france. For the majority of the time, this can be driven by a genuine smorgasbord of divergent passions. However not to be overlooked, is the shadow side of a centaur's Jupiterian nature, which is to wildly over stretch limits. Taken too far, the energetic half horse holds within it the power of extreme fundamentalism, a world of only the purest black & white. It is far wiser & healthier to keep in mind the many beautiful tones & shades of all the colours in life. We our reminded at this time of the gift of balance, temperance, this is the wisdom of the middle path, that leads to a greater abundance, the cornucopia of the soul. Over the next fortnight, this is the time to allow the dreams we've already thrown into the cosmic cooking pot to take shape & form. Hold back on the desire to rush hoof first into tomorrow, instead find the stillness within, hold space for current magick to be weaved into the fertile tapestry of our dreams. With Saturn "Old Father Time - Lord of Karma" currently residing in Sagittarius this Full Moon, we might experience revisitations from the past. Lessons that might not have been completed, can finally play out their last scene, it is now that the fat lady sings. Although this might be a challenging element for some, by taking self-responsiility & ownership, Jupiter the ruler of Sagittarius ensures a brighter & much wiser tomorrow. Old Father Time reminds us, to be present, for tomorrow doesn't exist; today is the time, our time, the only time to love, to dream & to create. Shamanic healing Sagittarius is the wise wandering shaman of the zodiac. Mythologically the sign is linked to the centaur Chiron, the wounded healer and teacher of ancient Greek classical tales. Chironic healing, is deep, visceral & cathartic. To fully embrace the experience requires complete trust & surrendering to the universe. Allowing ourselves to be vulnerable induces the inner alchemy required to harmonise our subconcious with our conscious self. Being a transpersonal sign, the Archer brings up situations, values & beliefs that are bigger than just us, our personal evolution is as much about others, this is the butterfly effect in action - for the greater good, we are called to lead by example. Currently Chiron is in a hard square transit to the Moon, heightening this period of inner healing & reflection, into a profoundly powerful period of transformation. Sometimes this also points to a literal or metaphorical feminine wounding. Being applicable to both women & men as their Anima, a Jungian term for a males inner feminine side. This can come up as a personal wounding, or a wounded relationship we have with a close woman; mother, sibling, partner/ex-partner or friend. We are reminded to be gentle with ourselves, now more than ever. Taking time out in nature, spending time with animals, eating whole organic foods, yoga, meditation ( particularly fire meditation ) all are great for inducing the right healing environment. Moon opposite the Sun in Gemini, Sun conjunct Mars & Mercury Gemini can lead us to reading between the lines & over analysis, hot headed Mars indicates brash action & Mercury which is currently retrograde can blur lines. Here we are counselled to be be still & calm, rather than rushing into large extended dialogues. When engaging with loved ones, patience & compassion pave the path towards an open heart…… at this time positive actions speak volumes louder than words. Neptune square Sun The etherial waters of daydreamy Neptune encourages us to sink deep into illusions & fantasy. By trusting our primal instincts we cut through the smoke screen venire to consciousness, this is the art of being truly awake. Pluto square Uranus Pluto's hard transit to Uranus, can actually be a blessing in disguise. Any unexpected challenges that present themselves now are from the past & the past has no place in our lives anymore, it's time to say goodbye. This is the time to vanquish our demons once & for all & triumphantly walk towards the bright & beautiful dawn…. our new paradigm just started. Grand Fire Trine: Moon, Uranus & Jupiter Unexpected and very positive opportunities can present themselves. New beginnings in what ever form they take started under the umbrella of a Grand Fire Trine are very auspicious. Much lunar love Natta )O( |

FULL MOON IN SCORPIO : CRYSTAL, HERBS & OILS Scorpio crystals to meditate & massage your body with:
Scorpio herbs/fruit to have as herbal tea or add into recipes:
Scorpio oils to massage your body or use in an old burner as incense:
For more information on these crystals check the Natta Jain "Crystals" page. | This month the Full Moon in Scorpio, is ruled by the planet Pluto, which governs transformation, regeneration & rebirth. When Pluto comes knocking, out dated structures are torn down & the new build begins. This month the focus is internal rather than external, it's time to get ritualistic & check in with our inner High Priestess or High Priest. Although Pluto can work on a very subtle level, the changes it heralds in are life changing. Under this Full Moon, regardless of whether we like it or have asked for it, the big internal shift in our life that needs to happen, literally happens, things get done. Even if exhausted, as Pluto can often feel, somehow we find that last reserve of energy to take us over the finish line. Stay strong with your convictions, it's the last & final push. Pluto can bring out our more shadow aspects, are darker feminine nature (this applies to men too). Keep check on emotions - even if subtle, the under current can be stronger than you think. It's likely most people are going to be feeling pretty highly strung over the next few days, so take everything with a pinch of salt - remembering that salt is well know for it's purifying & protective qualities. Often things can come to the surface, or we might become aware of things that where previously hidden, at this Full Moon secrets can come to light. If "subconscious knows" transform into "conscious knows" it's best we take time to slowly feel our way through emotions, listening to our inner wisdom is the key. In Western Esoteric philosophy the sign of Scorpio is unique; in that it is the only one of the 12 zodiac sign to transform into other creatures. Scorpio can delve into more deeper shadowier realms & can also ascend higher than the other signs as it transmutes from a Scorpio, to an Eagle & then a Dove - the highest form of spiritual elevation; symbolising, death, rebirth & finally ascension of the spirit. Hermetic philosophers talk about how we go through little deaths (transformations/new starts) all the time. From sleeping & waking up the next day, forgetting an old memory, to blinking our eyes every few minutes - all are reminders that a fresh dawn is perpetually awaiting us, all we need to do is acknowledge it & walk towards the light. As Scorpio is ruled by the element of water, it's a great evening to do some water meditation in the bath or shower, feel the purifying water literally washing away any stresses or energy blocks. Scorpio is highly intuitive, as a very shamanic sign if we have any dreams over the next few nights be sure to write them down - our natural psychic antenna will be highly sensitive right now. Mediation in nature will do wonders to increase this over the next fortnight, even if it's just a case of going for a 10 min evening stroll, paying attention in the moon light to the flowers & trees in people gardens. Delving into our creativity is another wonderful way to both develop our intuition & to embrace the Scorpionic energy. If we are going to delve which is very mush encouraged this Full Moon, we should delve deep. We our deep sea divers of the unconscious, and with this, Pluto promises many wonderful & soul-enrichening treasures are to be found. Much moon magick & lunar love Natta xxx |

For more information on these crystals check the Natta Jain "Crystals" page. | This months New Moon, is in the first zodiac sign of fiery Aries. The great watershed period of the last few months has now come to pass. This is also the ending of two weeks of confusion & low energy, left over from the Eclipse period. At the start of this cycle we might feel a little apprehensive & vulnerable. By keeping our faith strong, this will soon transform into positive progress. Pioneering forward into unchartered territory can be slightly daunting, but the universe is letting us know that we are very much ready for this new & more positive paradigm. We are in control, we are the architects of our future, Mars who rules Aries reminds us not to let anything or anyone hold us back from following our dreams. Stellium in Aries, 9th house The focus is more so on long term plans, integrating what we have just learnt in the last Eclipse cycle & gaining philosophical insights with each step we take forward. Even if it doesn't seem so yet, this new stage of life is a much welcome liberation, through radical faith we strength our position. Venus opposite Saturn Don't allow self-criticism to stand in the way of creativity. Rather then being harsh in our appraisal of ourselves & others, it's more preferable to be softer & create a safe space for understanding & collaboration to flourish. Mars conjunct MC in Taurus This is highlighting the importance to push forward with our more external endeavours, sheer determination to push through to the other side, can hold big break throughs. Jupiter intercepted in Leo 2nd house The next two weeks might seem as though not much progresses is being made, that's totally fine and astrologically this slower pace is more preferable, we are reminded to not be impulsive. Instead we should be committed to making steady constant progress, particularly when it comes to matters of the heart. At times we might feel slightly out on a limb & although this emotional stage of the journey we must complete alone, we become alot more empowered for it. |
