WHAT IS ONIMANCY?
OLIVE OIL
The Olive has had a long history of being a sacred herb in many cultures through out the world. Widely used in Egypt, Rome & Greece, Olive Oil was the preferred choice for the sacred temple lamps. The Olive tree is associated with many Solar Deities, as well as Athena & Poseidon. As a male aphrodisiac, Athenian brides wore crowns of olive leaves to encourage fertility. Whilst at the Olympics, the winner had their crown anointed with Olive Oil & wore a Olive victory wreath on their head. As in ancient times Olive Oil can still be used to today to consecrate incense burners before their first use. It may also be used in rituals to honour either human or deity. When used in magickal workings or rituals, you can dress candles with the Oil, anoint yourself or bless the ritual water with a drop. Placing springs of Olive leaves around the house & over the front door, promotes a peaceful home environment.
